Old Vendor Pastel on aluminum oxide paper
Image size: 16 in x 12.5 in
Location: Alamos, Sonora (2006)
Early one morning, I saw this old gentleman, very neatly dressed in his crisp, white hat and white
shirt, sitting on the cathederal steps on one side of the empty plaza. He had an assortment of plastic bags with little things
he hoped to sell to visitors; outdated, worthless Mexican coins, bits of crystals from nearby
mine sites, but best of all, tiny figures of goats woven from palm fronds.
