Even mountains that are dry, with low, scrubby growth, are beautiful in their own way. Without much vegetation, you can clearly see the "ribs" of the mountain. It is like a sculpture made by wind and rain then baked in the hot Mexican sun. It doesn't rain a lot in Sonora, but after the rainy season, the green crops change the landscape. Then, in the fall, the corn stalks dry and change color to yellow-brown. I saw this scene about noon when everything was quiet and the town looked like a toy village at the foot of the mountain.
